Key Features
- Cold-forged 1018 steel body, CNC machined, and heat-treated for exceptional wear resistance.
- Precision-ground needle roller bearing with high-chromium steel axle for long life and minimal friction.
- Extra-long cold-forged piston precision-fitted for slow leakdown to maintain lift without collapsing.
- High-flow disc-style check valve for quick response at higher RPM.
- Precision oil metering ensures proper rocker arm lubrication without sacrificing oil pressure.
- Encapsulated roller design handles higher spring loads than open fork designs.
Proven Performance
- Tested by GM Performance for COPO LS engines against LS7, Cadillac Racing, and Morel lifters—only Johnson passed all axle retention tests.
- Maintains 95% of cam lift during operation compared to 50% for LS7 lifters.
- Reduces cold start noise caused by high valve spring pressures and excessive bleed-down rates.
- Proven reliable past 8,500 RPM in repeated testing.
Recommended Lifter Installation
- Inspect lifters for any damage to the body or wheel.
- Ensure rollers spin freely without binding.
- Wipe lifter body with a lint-free rag; coat the outside with engine oil (do not soak).
- Clean the top end of the engine to prevent debris from entering the lifters.
- Inspect rocker arms, pushrod ends, and valve tips for wear; replace as needed.
- Install lifters and set preload to .035" ±.010".
- Change oil and filter after 50 miles to remove any assembly debris.
