Product Description
RDE 62188 Timing Chain Damper for GM Gen III LS1 and LS6 Blocks – Like GM 88958607
High-Temperature Nylon Timing Chain Dampener with Approximately 2.1-Inch Bolt Spacing
The RDE 62188 timing chain damper is designed to mimic GM 88958607 for compatible Gen III LS1, LS6 and select early truck engine blocks. Machined from high-temperature, low-friction nylon, the damper works with either a single-row or double-row timing chain. Installation requires a block that was factory drilled and tapped with approximately 2.1 inches of center-to-center bolt spacing.
Key Features & Benefits
- Designed for Gen III LS Blocks: The RDE 62188 fits compatible GM Gen III LS1, LS6 and select early truck engine blocks originally manufactured with the required mounting holes. It does not fit later Gen IV engine blocks or blocks using the narrower LS2 mounting pattern.
- Approximately 2.1-Inch Bolt Spacing: The mounting holes measure approximately 2.1 inches from center to center. This wider Gen III pattern must be distinguished from the approximately 1.7-inch LS2-style spacing found on some later-production and reproduction blocks.
- Single- or Double-Row Chain Compatibility: Designed for use with either single-row or double-row timing chains on supported engine blocks. This allows the same damper to accommodate multiple compatible timing-set configurations without requiring a chain-specific version.
- High-Temperature Nylon Construction: The damper is machined from a high-temperature, low-friction nylon selected for use near the engine’s timing-chain assembly. Its shape and mounting configuration are designed to mimic GM part number 88958607.
- Made in the USA: The RDE 62188 timing chain dampener is manufactured in the United States. Its application-specific design provides a replacement option for compatible LS blocks equipped with the correct factory-drilled and tapped mounting locations.
Notes
- Will not fit Gen IV blocks or blocks with the narrower approximately 1.7-inch LS2 bolt spacing.
- Some 2004 and later-production blocks and reproduction blocks may use the narrower pattern; confirm that the block is drilled and tapped with approximately 2.1-inch center-to-center spacing.
