Reduced Travel Hydraulic Roller Lifters for SBF Engines | 302, 351, 289, 306, 347, 363, 408 Windsor, Cleveland & Modified
Johnson’s 2212SBR-16 Reduced Travel Hydraulic Roller Lifters are engineered for Small Block Ford platforms, offering superior performance, durability, and precise valvetrain control for both factory roller blocks and retrofitted non-roller Windsor, Cleveland, and Modified engines. Featuring Johnson’s industry-leading link-bar design, these lifters deliver exceptional stability at higher RPM, making them the most reliable option for enthusiasts pushing aggressive hydraulic roller camshaft combinations. Suitable for both street and performance use, they provide enhanced valvetrain stability, reduced pump-up, and consistent operation across a wide powerband.
Key Features
- Hydraulic Roller Design: Optimized for high-performance hydraulic roller camshaft applications requiring excellent RPM stability and reliability.
- Premium Link-Bar Construction: Ensures accurate lifter alignment and long-term durability in both factory roller and retrofit applications.
- Reduced Travel Architecture: Features .108" total plunger travel with a recommended .035" preload (+/- .010") for precise valvetrain control under load.
- Complete Set: Sold as a set of 16 lifters—ideal for full valvetrain upgrades, rebuilds, or performance engine builds.
- Wide Engine Compatibility: Fits Small Block Ford Windsor, Cleveland, and Modified engines including 289, 302, 306, 347, 351, 363, 408, and more.
Recommended Installation Steps
- Inspect the lifters: Check for any visible damage on the lifter body or wheel.
- Verify roller function: Ensure each roller spins freely without binding.
- Clean the lifter body: Wipe each lifter with a lint-free rag to remove contaminants.
- Apply engine oil: Lightly coat the lifter exterior with engine oil (do not soak the lifters).
- Eliminate debris: Clean the top end of the engine thoroughly—debris entering a lifter is the leading cause of lifter failure.
- Inspect valvetrain components: Check rocker arms, pushrod ends, and valve tips for excessive wear and replace as necessary.
- Install lifters & set preload: Install the lifters and set preload to .035" ± .010" for proper performance.
- Perform break-in maintenance: Change the engine oil and filter after 50 miles to remove any remaining debris.
