Quality Genuine GM Replacement
I recently rebuilt the 6.2L L86 in my 2018 GMC Yukon XL Denali and decided to go with Michigan Motorsports for the mechanical DOD delete setup. The goal was to eliminate the factory AFM/DOD system and build the engine back with a more traditional, non-DOD valvetrain. I went with the Michigan Motorsports DOD delete components along with Delphi LS7 lifters and a non-AFM/DOD camshaft. So far, I’ve been extremely happy with the setup. The parts arrived as expected, everything fit properly, and the installation was straightforward. The quality of the components was what I was looking for on a complete engine rebuild, especially considering this is a daily-driven Yukon XL Denali and I wanted something I could have confidence in long-term. After getting the engine completely back together, priming the oiling system, and getting it running, the engine fired up and has been running great. The valvetrain is quiet, the engine has good oil pressure, and everything has been operating the way it should. One of the biggest reasons I chose the mechanical DOD delete was to get rid of the AFM/DOD components and potential failure points while rebuilding the engine. If you’re already going through an L86, it made sense to me to address the system rather than put everything back together exactly as it came from the factory. Overall, I’m very pleased with the Michigan Motorsports parts and how the rebuild turned out. The Yukon is back on the road and running strong. I’d definitely consider Michigan Motorsports again for future LS/LT engine projects and would recommend their parts to anyone doing a similar L86 DOD delete/rebuild.
