Measuring Instructions
- Make sure the lifter is positioned on the base circle of the camshaft lobe.
- Torque the rocker arm to the required specification. The supplied specification for stock rockers is 22 lb-ft.
- Adjust the checking tool until the valvetrain reaches zero preload.
- Read the length shown on the tool, then add the required lifter preload to determine the finished pushrod length.
Measurement Example
Michigan Motorsports recommends 0.070–0.100 inch of preload when using an LS7-style lifter. If the checking tool measures 7.330 inches at zero preload and 0.070 inch of preload is selected, the required pushrod length would be 7.400 inches: 7.330 + 0.070 = 7.400.
