GM Genuine Parts Camshaft Retainer Plates are designed, engineered, and tested to GM standards for proper fit, function, and reliability. The genuine GM replacement plate helps retain the camshaft in its proper position and control camshaft endplay.
Over time, the rubber sealing surface on the original camshaft retainer plate can flatten, harden, or deteriorate, potentially allowing oil to leak past the plate. Replacing the retainer plate is recommended when servicing the camshaft or during engine repairs, rebuilds, or performance engine builds.
