NOTE: BTR Stage 3 & 4 V3 Truck cams require BTR-SK018 spring kit (or similar) and one-piece chromoly pushrods!
Brian Tooley Racing's Stage 4 is the most aggressive option in their revamped LS Truck Camshaft lineup. When your truck spends more time playing than working, this camshaft is the ideal option to get an ultra aggressive idle sound and big gains of 70+ horsepower over the stock camshaft. A 3200+rpm torque converter is recommended for 4.8L and 5.3L applications, while the larger 6.0L/6.2L engines can get by with a 2800+rpm stall (though a looser converter will improve performance even further).
The new BTR V3 Truck Camshafts are the result of their most extensive truck cam development program ever, delivering more average torque and horsepower under the curve - perfect for trucks that need strong midrange performance & enhanced towing capability.
The V3 cams use advanced valvetrain simulation and dynamic modeling tools along with Spintron development to guarantee reliable, stable valvetrain performance across all possible platforms. Next, BTR used engine and chassis dyno testing, using full-length truck exhaust systems and OEM-style intakes. Hundreds of dyno runs were performed to fine-tune cam timing, maximizing torque and efficiency across the RPM range.
These “Truck” cams receive the same engineering rigor and combustion development as BTR's race programs. No old catalog lobes! Plus, you're getting a 100% USA-designed & made product!
Our kit options take the guesswork out and include the following:
Camshaft only: BTR Stage 4 Truck V3 Camshaft by itself.
Camshaft, Springs & Seals: BTR Stage 4 Truck V3 Cam, BTR SK018 .625" Beehive Springs with Valve Seals and Spring Locators.
Camshaft, Springs, Seals and Pushrods: BTR Stage 4 Truck V3 Cam, BTR SK018 .625" Beehive Springs with Seals and Locators, plus BTR 7.400" Long, 5/16" Chromoly Pushrods with .080" Wall Thickness.
Gasket kit: Includes Timing Cover Gasket, Water Pump Gaskets, Front Crankshaft Seal and new Balancer Bolt
Note:
- DOD/AFM equipped engines will require a DOD/AFM Delete Kit
- VVT engines will require a VVT Delete Kit
- If installing in an engine originally equipped with a 1-bolt camshaft, a 3 bolt conversion kit will be required
The dyno test below was conducted on a stock Gen IV 5.3L with stock 243 heads, TBSS intake, longtube headers and full length exhaust. Stock cam vs the BTR Stage 4 V3 cam.
