Camshaft Retainer Plate (Countersunk Torx Bolts): 11 lb-ft

Camshaft Sprocket (3-Bolt Cam) 26 lb-ft

Camshaft Sprocket (Single Bolt Cam) First Pass: 55 lb-ft, Second Pass: + 50 Degrees

Connecting Rod Bolts: First Pass: 15 lb-ft, Second Pass: + 85 Degrees

Coolant Crossover Tube/Steam Port Caps: 106 lb-inch

Coolant Temperature Sensor: 15 lb-ft

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt Step 1 (Installation pass to ensure balancer is fully seated): 240 lb-ft

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt Step 2 (Use a NEW bolt after installation pass is completed and bolt removed): First Pass: 37 lb-ft, Second Pass: + 140 Degrees

Cylinder Heads (See Sequence Diagram Below)

  -1997 to Early 2004 Blocks (8 longer and 2 shorter 11mm bolts per head) MM # K6100
  • M11 Bolts First Pass: 22 lb-ft
  • M11 Bolts Second Pass: + 90 Degrees
  • M11 Bolts Third Pass: + 90 Degrees on the 8 longer bolts, 50 Degrees on the 2 shorter bolts
  •  M8  Bolts (after all 3 passes are done on M11 bolts): 22 lb-ft
  -Mid 2004 and Later Blocks (10 bolts all same length per head) MM # K7100
  • M11 Bolts First Pass: 22 lb-ft
  • M11 Bolts Second Pass: + 90 Degrees
  • M11 Bolts Third Pass: + 70 Degrees
  •  M8  Bolts (after all 3 passes are done on M11 bolts): 22 lb-ft
Intake Manifold (See Sequence Diagram Below)
  • First Pass: 44 lb-inch
  • Second Pass: 89 ln-inch

Exhaust Manifold to Cylinder Head: 18 lb-ft

Flywheel/Flexplate: First Pass: 15 lb-ft, Second Pass: 37 lb-ft, Third Pass: 74 lb-ft

Main Bearing Caps (See Sequence Diagram Below)

  • Main cap inner bolts - First Pass: 15 lb-ft

  • Main cap inner bolts - Second Pass: + 80 Degrees
  • Main cap outer studs - First Pass: 15 lb-ft
  • Main cap outer studs - Second Pass: + 53 Degrees
  • Main cap side bolts - 18 lb-ft (After completing both passes on the inner and outer fasteners)

Lift Guide Trays: 89 lb-inch

Oil Drain Plug: 18 lb-ft

Oil Pan: M8 Bolts: 18 lb-ft, M6 Bolts at rear of pan: 106 lb-inch

Oil Pickup tube to Oil Pump: 106 lb-inch

Oil Pump to Engine Block: 18 lb-ft

Rocker Arms: 22 lb-ft

Timing Cover: 18 lb-ft

Timing Chain Damper: 18 lb-ft

Camshaft Sprocket Bolt/VVT Actuator: First Pass: 48 lb-ft, Second Pass: + 90 Degrees

Connecting Rod Bolts: First Pass: 15 lb-ft, Second Pass: + 85 Degrees

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt (With solid Flanged Head): First Pass: 89 ln-ft, Second Pass: Loosen 360 Degrees, Third Pass: 59 lb-ft, Final Pass: +125 Degrees

Crankshaft Balancer Bolt (With Separate Rotating Washer): First Pass: 89 lb-ft, Second Pass: Loosen 360 Degrees, Third Pass: 59 lb-ft, Final Pass: +200 Degrees

Flex Plate to Crankshaft Bolts: First Pass: 22 lb-ft, Second Pass: +45 Degrees

Flywheel to Crankshaft Bolts: First Pass: 22 lb-ft, Second pass: +45 degrees

  • Main cap inner bolts - Second Pass: + 110 Degrees

  • After Inner and outer main studs are torqued, then do the side bolts:
  • Main cap side bolts - First Pass: 22 lb-ft
  • Main cap side bolts - Second Pass: +60 Degrees
