What Is CAGS?
CAGS stands for Computer Aided Gear Selection. It is a factory fuel economy feature that activates a solenoid behind the shifter, preventing the transmission from being shifted into 2nd or 3rd gear under certain low-speed, light-throttle conditions. When active, it forces the driver from 1st gear into 4th gear.
When Does CAGS Engage?
- Coolant temperature reaches approximately 169 degrees.
- Vehicle speed is approximately 15-19 mph.
- Throttle position is approximately 21% or less.
